On the second day of the 6th LDBC TUC Meeting that took place in Barcelona we welcomed Yinglong Xia from IBM Research with his presentation “Recent Updates on IBM System G – GraphBIG and Temporal Data”.

Yinglong Xia explains that the IBM Research team has been using the LDBC SNB graph datasets for GraphBIG, a graph benchmarking effort initiated by IBM System G (IBM’s graph database for high performance graph computing) and Georgia Tech HPArch. He also talks about their research on temporal graphs, and highlights its importance given that for a lot of real use cases dynamic graphs are needed. For example, in a Social Network Analytics scenario, it could be more interesting to see how a cluster in the social network changes over time than to know the characteristics of the cluster at a given time point. During the talk, two use cases are presented: forensic analysis on individual status and bitemporal data exploration.
