Sixth TUC Meeting: MODAClouds Decision Support System for Cloud Service Selection by Smrati Gupta (CA technologies)
During last TUC Meeting in Barcelona we were glad to welcome Smrati Gupta from CA technologies, a leading company that creates systems software that runs in mainframe, distributed computing, virtual machine and cloud computing environments.
Smrati explains the motivation for the creation of MODAcloud by the CALabs team for cloud services selection for big corporations. She highlights the potential to use the DSS technology in addressing the graph database selection issue and how it might enhance the use of graph databases in enterprises.
MODAcloud recommends to the user the most appropriate cloud service regarding three dimensions: cost, quality and risk giving multi-cloud environment compatibility and multiple stakeholders (architect, decision maker, risk policy management and system operator) participation. One of the main perks of the technology is that has progressive learning automatically gathering data to improve recommendations.
Smrati also shared some open questions regarding graph databases, DSS and cloud environment such as what would be the characteristics that would define the quality of a cloud graph database? Which would be the most important criteria to chosse between cloud graph databases? How could a DSS help for cloud graph database selection? and other relevant issues that could be addressed in this matter.
